Disappointed February 28, 2010 Laurie A. Corson (Marlton, NJ, USA) I'm typing this review from my EEE PC 1000HA, which has the greatest keyboard EVER for a netbook! I wish I could say the same for the T91MT which I bought because it was an even more portable device. The placement of the shift key is ridiculous! I have to stop and look for it every time. And I have very small hands so it's not the size that's the problem. It's the placement of the key. There's also much less responsiveness to touch-typing. The space bar must practically have to be pounded on to get it to work. I often need to type notes to keep track of legal advice that I give on a daily basis when I am on call. I haven't gotten used to the handwriting recognition yet, but I'm going to focus on working with that and I hope that will eliminate the need to type altogether.

br /I have downloaded the Kindle software and a few books. The light weight of the T91 makes it an acceptable reading device so I'm not sorry I bought it yet, but I hope Asus improves the keyboard on its next small tablet.
BEWARE !!!! TOO SMALL and FIXED BATTERY FAILS February 25, 2010 B. Sheehan (Keaau, Hi., US) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Asus customer service assured me that the screen size was roughly 8.9" wide and roughly 6" tall. Not 8.9" diagonally. that makes it roughly 7.75 wide and about 4.5 tall. The keyboard is going to be the same micro size. I don't know about you but I cannot hit one button without hitting 3 at the same time. The screen is too small to view most things. I am very disappointed. I have talked to customer service and they said there was nothing they can do to reimburse me for shipping but t "they will talk to upper management" about it. I live in Hawaii and the shipping was almost $40... so to send it back and get another netbook that is bigger will cost me almost $150. This is not to mention the $30 I spent on a screen protector (so the stylus does not scratch the screen) plus $10 shipping plus $10 to return it. This is a big pain in my butt. Asus has lousy customer support. Be aware also of other reviews complaining about the battery dying on them right after the 6 month warranty expires. The battery is fixed and cannot be replaced by the consumer rendering the netbook useless. BEWARE BEFORE BUYING THIS PRODUCT!!!! "TOO SMALL TO FUNCTION PROPERLY" AND NON_REMOVABLE BATTERY FOR THE CONSUMER!!! Would not have purchased this product had I known this.
Not Perfect - But Really Meets My Needs February 22, 2010 C. Matier (Colorado) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
First, let me get this out of the way: I bought the T91MT because I didn't want an iPad.
br /
br /In addition to the T91MT, I own an iPhone and a HP TouchSmart TX2. I am sold on touch computing, and find the Tablet concept fabulous and essential. I teach, and I use the TX2 and a projector as a substitute for a smartboard, so I knew that the tablet is for me. Unfortunately, the TX2 weighs in at around 5 pounds which lead me to looking for a smaller tablet. I wanted something lightweight, portable, and handy for movies and such on the run.
br /
br /I waited until the iPad specifics came out, and I was intrigued but sorely disappointed. What disappointed me was the idea of a large iPod touch or iPhone. Don't get me wrong, the iPhone is a great phone, but it is a lousy tablet. I cannot check ebooks out from the library, I can't access my Zune Marketplace, and I can't tweak or customize it at all. At times, it feels like I am "borrowing" my iPhone from Apple because I can't customize it. That is why the T91MT and full-blown Windows 7 was so intriguing. The Asus Netbook has been surprisingly nice.
br /
br /The Good:
br /It is small, light, and very comfortable.
br /I can check out EPub Library Books, stream Netflix, and listen to Zune.
br /I can ink in Evernote and keep all my notes together on all of my machines.
br /I can tweak, customize, and install anything I want.
br /The Screen size is perfect.
br /By disabling non-essential services, Aero effect, using 16-bit color, and disabling bluetooth I get nearly 6.25 hours of battery.
br /Kindle App works great (would love to see inking).
br /Two USB ports and SD card slots are a major plus.
br /
br /The So-So:
br /The machine must be upgraded to 2GB of RAM (I have done that).
br /The SSD drive needs substantial tweaking to ensure performance.
br /The Windows Install needs to be slimmed down a whole bunch before it fully usable.
br /90% of the included software is not needed/actually makes the experience worse (by fully customizing the machine, it can nearly keep up with my TX2).
br /The T101MT is coming soon, and it is bigger but faster - personal difference.
br /Bluetooth is available (I just don't use it)
br /
br /The Bad:
br /Palm rejection is non-existent (especially after uninstalling bloat) in OneNote and Evernote.
br /Upgrading the hard drive is possible but very scary
br /32GB SSD is small, must have 1 or 2 FAST SD cards for IE and Firefox Cache, downloads, media storage, and Skype Portable.
br /I am afraid of keyboard build - it seems flimsy.
br /Processor is underclocked, and it undervolts automatically when in tablet mode (there is a trick to get around this though).
br /Fingerprints
br /
br /This machine is not an iPad and that is a good thing. For the comparable iPad, you will spend much more and get much less, and you will have no customization ability. My T91MT is running as fast as my iPhone can, and I have the same (and more) software installed on both. Yes, it is a half pound heavier and the battery will last 2.5 hours less, but I am more than happy with my choice.

I like this machine February 5, 2010 Fran C (Ontario Canada) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wanted something more than an ebook reader but would function like an ebook reader. This is great for enjoying ebooks and also lets me use my email program and others. It is sturdy, compact and light. I enjoy travel and this makes a great companion. There is lots more I can learn about how to use it's many features, but I don't have to do that to enjoy it. Lovely sound from the speakers and a really nice clear crisp display screen. Windows 7 is much friendlier than Vista, which I have on my other computer.
Ultra-portable, not a workhorse January 30, 2010 Brad T. Gilson (Liberty, Mo) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's great, I haven't installed a 2 gig memory stick, but I'm not noticing any major slow downs. This netbook is not designed to be a workhorse computer. I'm using it to take notes in class, the handwriting recognition software is pretty neat, although it's going to take some getting used to (my handwriting is fairly chicken-scratchy). The SD drive expansions come in pretty handy to double the storage space.
